This was the second blockbuster console since the Atari 2600, a decade prior. Despite being graphically impaired, even for 2D gaming, it came with lots of good games. Despite some models being quite uncomfortable, this was the first-use of the videogame controller as we know it today. These controller ideas became the normal standard for decades. The console should be remembered for enforcing videogame quality standards. You could count on NES games being fairly good, free of bugs, and polished. A trend that meant for quality gaming experience that mostly lasted for decades throughout the industry.
