The handheld was an impressively immersive device. The screen was large and the graphics quite decent. The sound quality was good, and the external speaker got loud enough to hear in noisy environments. It had lots of good games. The gameplay was well suited to handheld play, and the controls were excellent. Sony introduced a ultra low-profile joystick. This was the first handheld to deliver a handheld driving-game experience. It was a great console, and offered many Japanese games, including top role-playing games. Games still worthy playing today. The PSP was the first hand held to step beyond the types of games traditionally thought to be possible on a handheld. It was good enough in most instances to make you unconcerned with the absence of a home console.
