Sleeve insert-style covers:
For newer games
1999 and newer videogames
Pre-flatten sleeve inserts by storing between two heavy books for at least 24 hours
Do not place sleeve-insert in corner of scanner
Lay somewhat straight
Place as flat as possible by placing heavy books and two 5-pound dumbbell weights on top of closed scanner lid
Default settings unless instructed to change below
Resolution: 300 DPI
24-bit color
File format: JPEG
Descreen/Denoise: Enabled
Unsharp mask: off
Preview/thumbnail: off
Lay matte-black construction paper on top of the insert
Scan at night after sunset
Turn off room lights to prevent edge bleed
Close scanner bed completely
Have semi-dark sunglasses around in-case you need them

Box covers:
For older games
1998 and older videogames
Spray 409 lightly on rag and wipe box
Do not place box in corner of scanner
Lay somewhat straight
Place as flat and straight as possible by placing books and light hand-weights on top of if flattenened/opened (or inside of box if in box shape)
Do not close scanner lid
Default settings unless instructed to change below
Resolution: 600 DPI
24-bit color
Descreen/Denoise: Enabled
Unsharp mask: off
Preview/thumbnail: off
No other enhancements on as those can degrade the quality
Scan late at night, while moon is out
Turn off room lights to prevent edge bleed
Wear dark sunglasses
